People with autism tend to be unusually strong visual and spatial thinkers. We offer customised instruction in art and graphic design to help them develop life skills that will enhance their innate abilities, which will also help them to achieve educational and career goals.
We also provide young adults on the Autism Spectrum with customised training and hands on experience to earn a living in the fields of multi-media, computer animation and post production. We offer private tutoring, small group instruction, for teens with autism interested in exploring careers in the digital arts.
ASD Students will learn about 3D animation through a series of courses in storytelling, filmmaking,
cinematic structure, and storyboarding, and study the fundamental principles of
traditional and 3D Computer Animation, such as character development, environmental
design, and scriptwriting, weaving these elements together to effectively pre-visualise an
animated film. We will use the industry standard methods, tools and software, such
as Photoshop, Premier Pro, After Effects and Maya 3D.
Drawing & Anatomy
The purpose of this introduction is to explore and become familiar with the human form.
ASD individuals will gain a deep and intimate knowledge of the human form on a perceptual
and anatomical level.
This course is comprised of Photoshop and After Effects, Sound and Editing,
introducing the basic skills necessary to specific requirements of the animation pipeline.
This course is comprised of Character Design, Storyboard, Animatics, Screenwriting, and
Directors Craft. Our ASD clients are presented with an integrated approach to story and learn
how to lay out ideas economically and clearly from the initial written idea to a full
pre-visualisation of their animation.
This course focuses on creating hard surface and organic models, using a variety of
industry standard software. ASD clients will learn to create professional, realistic 3D characters
and props from scratch. They also learn to reintegrate high polygon models into low polygon
environments for animation and rendering using methods of retopolisation,
and employing the discipline of displacement and normal mapping models.
Each 3D model is composed of vertices. Each vertex usually defines the location of a point in space, a normal (used in lighting calculations), and one or more texture coordinates. These are generally designated by u for the horizontal part of the texture and v for the vertical. Students will learn how to create textures in Photoshop and apply them in their Maya models.
Computer-generated imagery (CGI) is the application of computer graphics to create or contribute to images in art, printed media, video games, films, television programs, shorts, commercials, videos, and simulators.
Lighting and Shading
Our clients will learn lighting, rendering, and textures using the mental ray plugin for Maya in conjunction with Maya materials.
They will learn rigging theory, how to create skeletons, how to use inverse Kinematics, and create dynamic controllers for animated characters.
During this training, we will teach the principles of animation, and also discuss how to express an action or emotion through body language, how to transfer this into the Maya software and give life to characters or objects. Understanding animation using Maya software is but a small part of our animation course. Our clients learn how to create realistic motion, follow through, and how to convey the weight of a character, accurate body mechanics, via observation and reference footage. The integration of the characters’ personality, initially developed in the “Elements of Story” course with the movement and behaviour of the animated character, is also a primary aspect of the animation students’ work.
The goal of this class is to give students a fundamental understanding of compositing using real-world examples. The ASD individuals in our programme should come away not just knowing what buttons to press, but why they are pressing them.
A very important value in the creative working environment is that we should be able to team-work. We aim to guide our ASD clients to learn how to think independently instead of just imitating. Therefore, we encourage them to be interactive, to take initiative in the process of learning, by asking questions, not only to the teacher/therapist but also between the other team players ( in the case of a group), you can teach each other while you are discovering how to do things, so its a collaborative process.

Our goal here at PEOPLE & TALENT, is to help ASD clients to discover their own talent, their own creativity. Our duty is to help get them involved through the process of learning, motivate them and encourage them to do their own research in order to find their intrinsic drive to accomplish the work. This is a training that will prepare them to be able to work for a real production company.
It is important to use the creative imagination, to connect with your own ideas so that you can feel involved in the process of learning. So we need to combine technical skills and knowledge with creativity, original ideas and good problem-solving skills.
We will talk about the standards of the industry, what are the requirements for you as animators to be able to find a job in a production company. There is a series of skills that you are going to have to demonstrate through your demo reel.
